Freedom of Information
The Freedom of Information Act 2000 provides a general right of access, subject to specific exemptions, to recorded information held by public authorities such as NI-CO. Publications
NI-CO is committed to making information about its business and how it operates available. Details of this commitment and a list of the classes of information NI-CO must publish can be viewed in the Information Commissioner’s Model Publication Scheme and Definition Document which NI-CO has adopted. Accessing information not included in the publication scheme
If you can’t find the information you are looking for on the site you can contact us to request it under the Freedom of Information Act.
Your request must:
- Be in writing (this includes email: nicohq@nico.org.uk)
- State your name and an address for correspondence (includes email).
- Describe the information you require.
What does it cost?
The FOI Act sets an “appropriate limit” below which public authorities are required to provide requested information free of charge. We will not charge where the cost of locating, retrieving and extracting the information you request is less than this limit, which is currently set at £450.
Where the estimated cost of providing information exceeds £450, NI-CO is not obliged to proceed with the request. However we may be able to provide some of the information requested if it can be supplied within the “appropriate limit” and in these circumstances we will contact you and assist you in redefining your request.
