Building cyber awareness and resilience among vulnerable groups is the cornerstone of NI-CO’s EU funded Cyber resilience programme.  Over the past four years, our Communications Expert, Sylvia Beamish, has worked to develop wide ranging and impactful strategies and campaigns with our colleagues in partner countries a cross the globe. This week Sylvia has been in Mauritius to support the Ministry of Gender and Ministry of Youth Empowerment, Sports and Recreation in their efforts to address the important issues of cyber bullying and online Gender based Violence (GBV).

Sylvia Beamish with Dr. Kaleem Usmani, Mr Manish Lobin and Mr H. Buddhu from the Government of the Republic of Mauritius.

As a Cyber4Dev hub country, The Republic of Mauritius has already taken a lead in developing innovative and citizen led campaigns which seek to empower women and young people to take control of their online life. We’re pleased to have supported them to further develop their ‘Safer Internet Day’ activities as well as their ‘Cyberbullying- Pas Avek Nu’ campaign.
